About this book

Yellin Tanakh

Author: Shalom Shachna Yellin, Yehoshua Kimchi

Year: 1837

This is a scan of Rabbi Shalom Shachna Yellin's Bible (published in London, 1837 ), which contains notations by his son-in-law, Yehoshua Kimchi (Jerusalem, 1790-1874) describing details of the Aleppo Codex. The notations in this bible are the single most important resource for reconstructing the text of the Aleppo Codex's missing parts. The notations contained in this bible are examined thoroughly and explained in Yosef Ofer's article, “ The Aleppo Codex and the Bible of R. Contents: Torah: Genesis (from 9:10), Exodus , Leviticus , Numbers , Deuteronomy Former Prophets: Joshua , Judges , Samuel ( 2 Samuel ), Kings ( 2 Kings ) Latter Prophets: Isaiah , Jeremiah , Ezekiel , Twelve Prophets ( Hosea , Joel , Amos , Obadiah , Jonah , Micah , Nahum , Habakkuk , Zephaniah , Haggai , Zechariah , Malachi ) Writings: Psalms , Proverbs , Job , Song of Songs , Ruth , Lamentations , Ecclesiastes , Esther , Daniel , Ezra ( Nehemiah ), Chronicles ( 2 Chronicles ); table of haftarot .
