Digitised by Google Books from the collection at the New York Public Library https://books.google.com/books?id=khukWdufltwC In November 1915, the author initially joined the East Yorkshire Regiment (page 5), 3 rd Battalion, F Company (page 10), then in March 1916 was transferred to the Machine Gun Corps (page 15), initially to the 98 th Machine Gun Company (page 16). September 1916 he was transferred to 13 th Machine Gun Company, 13 th Infantry Brigade, 5 th Division (page 48). The Company remained in France until 30 November 1917 when it left for Italy where it remained until early April 1918. By December 1918, the Company name had changed to A Company, 5 th Battalion (page 202). Around this time, the author joined the Battalion Educational Staff (page 203). April 1919, the 5 th Machine Gun Battalion proceeded to Germany (page 207). Only a few weeks later the author was demobilised (page 210).
