Tribute to General Benjamin Franklin Fisher The issue opens with a memorial for General Benjamin Franklin Fisher, a prominent Valley Forge resident, Civil War veteran, and charter member of the Washington Memorial Chapel. Fisher’s funeral was attended by many, with services at his home and burial in Phoenixville with military honors. A detailed biography recounts his distinguished Civil War service, including his leadership in the Signal Corps, capture and escape from Libby Prison, and eventual brevet promotion to Brigadier General. After the war, Fisher had a successful legal and business career in Philadelphia and remained actively involved in the Chapel’s progress until his death. Call for a Museum Annex The Valley Forge Museum has outgrown its current space, prompting the Washington Memorial Committee to seek $100,000 for Patriots’ Hall and an immediate campaign for a Museum Annex.
