VOITINSKII Vladimir Savel'evich (1885-1960). Bezrabotitsa i lokauty [Unemployment and lockouts]. Petersburg: Priboi [Bolshevik ed. house], 1914. The popular description of the working of capitalism, devoted mainly to workers-activists. The book has been written by Voitinskii during his exile in Eastern Siberia. Being in 1906-07 chairman of Petersburg council of the unemployed, he knew too well the reality of these phenomena. The book has been put under arrest by the authorities (quite unusual case of repression even for Priboi), and soon after, in July 1914, the ed. house was closed by police (see S.V.Belov "Stremiannaia, 12", Moscow: Politizdat, 1986, p.141). In the spring 1915 the author has been arrested, the gendarme investigator menaced to put him in trial for this book (see Voitinskii's memoirs, v.II, Berlin, 1924, p.400). Chapters of the book: - What is unemployment - Sizes of the unemployment - Causes of the unemployment - Who does suffer because of the unemployment - Who does benefit of the unemployment - Lockouts - How to struggle against the unemployment
