UGHS Chronicle No 5 September 1925. Scanned by Jim Foley 2015. Every year from 1920 Uttoxeter Girls' High School produced a chronicle of evens at the school. Three members of the Mellor family of Uttoxeter Janet, married name Cruickshank, Margaret married name Sheddick and Gwyneth attended the school where at one time their father Ernest Mellor, Uttoxeter chemist, was Chairman of the Governors. This copy and copies of the following years of the Chronicle came into the possession of Geoffrey Sheddick son of Margaret Mellor who kindly allowed them to be scanned and reproduced here. The chronicles are an invaluable source for the history of UGHS, Family History research and the social history of Uttoxeter and the surrounding area. Ernest Mellor’s memories of Uttoxeter are on the Internet Archive as are those of his daughter Janet Cruickshank, nee Mellor who was Uttoxeter’s first female optician.
