The Myeik Yazawin is a history of the Tenasserim region in what is now the country of Myanmar. According to local people, it was first compiled from old manuscripts found in monasteries in the late 1920s. The project involved a large collaboration of people, though U Gyi Sein was listed as the lead editor. It was first published in 1929. The version presented here is a 1993 reprint found in the Myeik municipal library. The text combines folklore, regional narratives and a great deal of solid history. It demonstrates the unique and largely autonomous culture of Tenasserim (or Tanintharyi, among other spellings).
