About this book

The Story of Crisco – 250 tested recipes

Author: Marion Harris Neil

Year: 1915

A book called “The Story of Crisco – 250 Tested Recipes”. This is broken into several sections- the first part goes into the history of Crisco- what it is, how it came to be, what the idea(s) behind it were, and what it’s defining characteristics are vs its contemporaries (lard, butter and margarine). The next section goes into things to remember when using Crisco, some basics for new cooks around recipes, a time table for cooking various kinds of food, and then a section on “The Art of Carving”, about slicing up different meats properly. The final section is the 250 recipes, all of which use Crisco as a component. I picked up my copy at a thrift store, and it had some damage to it, which is visible mainly on the end pages & back cover.
