It gives a succinct history of clown, written by a person who had legitimate nostalgia for the one-ring circus. An article charts the evolution of different comedic character types. There's also comparrison on how several painters captured laughter. It's kind of amazing to read about comedy in 1924, with nary a mention of motion pictures. Also found in this magazine is a writer talking about their realization that the "But Doctor, I Am (insert clown name) " joke has existed likely long before he heard it in the early 1900s. Good jokes last. The Mentor was a magazine published by Crowell Publishing and edited by W. D. Moffat. Each issue explored a different theme. It ran from 1913 to what seems to be 1931.
