About this book

The love-light in my mother's eyes

Author: Brown, Fred G.

Year: 1918

[Verse 1] You may sing of bright lights and white lights of Broadway, / Of moonlight, of the starlight or sunset’s golden ray. / Still I long for one light though now I long in vain; / Perhaps some day that same dear light will shine for me again! [Chorus repeats] Twas as bright as the dew on a Rosebud, / As sweet as a baby’s smile, / When her eyes lit with joy, as she whisper’d [whispered] “My boy,” / Made me feel I was ling’ring [lingering] with angels a-while! / And now like the starlight ‘tis [it is] beaming rom [from] memory’s radiant skies; / And the best sight to me in heaven will be the lovelight in my mother’s eyes! [Verse 2] “Mother” is the grandest of words that tongue can say; / We little know its value until she’s passed away. / Happy days of childhood! / When she would soothe my pain, / The lovelight in my mother’s eyes would make it well again! [Chorus repeats]
