INDIAN RAILWAYS: THEIR HISTORICAL, ECONOMICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASPECTS, was written by a Retired Assistant Traffic Superintendent with 37 years' service on the railroad. He covers the development of state and company lines from 1848 to 1919 with an eye toward reforming the system along more efficient standards and with better service to the Indian people. Tiwari addresses all aspects of the business including fares and bulk movement costs. Although the author apologizes for English not being his first language, his writing is exceptional.
