Holt, presumably Claude Alfred Wallace Holt who served with 7th Light Horse Regiment and was wounded at the battle of Romani. The book was No. 282 of a Subscription Edition limited to 300. The Regiment left Sydney, NSW, Australia in December 1914, arrived in Egypt February 1 st , 1915, and was deployed to Gallipoli as a dismounted unit in May 1915, until evacuated In December 1915 back to Egypt. The Introduction by Lieut.-General Harry Chauvel says Raised in New South Wales in 1914, the Regiment was early in the field, and took a prominent part in all the important operations in the Egyptian Theatre of the War. It first came under my command on Gallipoli in November, 1915, and continued therein until the conclusion of the War. At the Battle of Romani it was largely due to its stubborn defence and spirited counter-attack, under the leadership of Lieut.-Colonel (now Brigadier-General) G.
