The Barnstable County Conference of Congregational Churches was formed at Chatham, Massachusetts on October 28, 1828. It was formed “to promote, both in ministers and churches, an increase of piety.” A Constitution was adopted by the Conference in 1837. This booklet from 1846 contains a revision of that 1837 Constitution, a synopsis of the business and activities of the December Annual and June Semi-Annual Meetings of that Conference, and also historical sketches of the Congregational churches in that Conference. That Conference is said to include the Congregational churches in the Barnstable, Nantucket, and Dukes counties. However, unfortunately, this copy of this seemingly rare booklet appears to be missing about the last ten of its forty-four pages and any descriptions of any Dukes county churches, such as on that county's island of Martha’s Vineyard. The booklet does contain sketches of twenty-three Barnstable county churches and one Nantucket county church. A fifty page revision and update of this booklet was created by the Barnstable County Conference of Congregational Churches in 1866. And I have uploaded a copy of that booklet to Archive.org too.
