About this book
Teaching amid the Ruins, 1906
Author: Weitz, Hugo
Year: 1906
Prior to 1906, the Sisters of the Presentation had two convents in San Francisco. One was located on Powell and Lombard Streets, the other on Taylor and Ellis Streets. In the immediate aftermath of the disaster, the Sisters fled the city to their convent in Berkeley. As soon as they were able, however, they returned to San Francisco and resumed teaching their remaining pupils in the ruins of their convent on Powell and Lombard Streets.
