About this book

Sunday Magazine [1906-01-14]

Year: 1906

A syndicated newspaper Sunday supplement magazine from January 14, 1906. The Sunday Magazine was distributed by its publisher to several major newspapers around the country. This issue has a colorful cover by Joseph Clement Coll, featuring the characters Edith and Mary (the daughters of the Knight of Duplin) from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sir Nigel." The issue includes the eighth installment of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's historical novel, Sir Nigel: A Companion To The White Company . Sir Nigel is a fore-runner to Doyle's earlier novel The White Company , and describes the early life of that book's hero Sir Nigel Loring in the service of King Edward III at the start of the Hundred Years' War, spanning the years 1350 to 1356 . It was first serialized in twenty parts with illustrations by Joseph Clement Coll in the Sunday Magazine in various American newspapers from December 3, 1905 to April 15, 1906, concluding the American serialization several months before the novel's serialization in England ended in The Strand Magazine (where it ran in thirteen monthly installments from December 1905 to December 1906). It was published in book form in America on October 1, 1906 by McClure, Phillip
