The authors have adapted (1) the continuous-flow calorimeter, and (2) the vacuum-jacketed (Dewar flask) calorimeter to the determination of specific heats of liquids over a temperature-range of a few degrees in the interval between -35 degrees and 20 degrees , measurement of temperature being made by Pt-resistance thermometers, and heat being supplied electrically and measured accurately by the potentiometer method.
