Pelletier, Capitaine (French, 1788-circa 1870) Souvenirs botaniques France, 1815-1851 Two oblong albums comprising 369 botanical watercolors (a few folded), ranging in size from 5 ¼ x 3 ⅛ inches to 10 ¼ x 16 ⅛ inches; three blank leaves in second album containing hand-drawn tables titled: “Tables des Noms Latins.” Some drawings are mounted onto the album leaves and some are drawn directly onto the leaves themselves. The plants are identified in manuscript and several are dated. Rebound in quarter brown leather, preserving the original brown cloth boards; front covers stamped in gilt: “Cne. Pelletier Souvenirs Botaniques 1re Partie [-2me Partie].” Spine height: 10 ¼ inches. Original held by the Oak Spring Garden Foundation, Upperville, Virginia.
