Materials document Wetmore's observations and collecting efforts in South America, 1920-1921, while working for the U.S. Department Agriculture, Bureau of Biological Survey. He was investigating the distribution of life zones of North American migratory birds in southern South America. Includes a report, photographs and notes. Report is entitled: Report on an investigation of the present status of birds that migrate from the United States and Canada to Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Chile. It includes table of contents, itinerary, breakdown for each country mentioned, present and future status of migratory birds, capture and sale, general knowledge of their status, and pertinent treaties. Also included are loose typed and handwritten notes describing characteristics of birds in an outline style, listed by their scientific names (pages are numbered) and list of specimens (skins in alcohol, skeletons, and mammals) by location. Locations include: Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Formosa, Buenos Aires, Chaco and Rocha
