While a member of the British regular army stationed in Canada, sent on a mission to Oregon, 1845-1846 (Wallace, Dictionary of Canadian biography ). // Warre, accompanied by Lieutenant Mervin Vavasour and Peter Skene Ogden, crossed the continent via the North Saskatchewan River in 1845 and returned in 1846. A few of the sketches are of the prairie region. Also published, with an introduction by Archibald Hanna, Jr., in an edition of 1,950 copies, Barre, Mass: Imprint Society, 1970 (26p., 72 leaves of plates).
