About this book
Sketch of the Mosquito Shore
Author: Thomas Strangeways
Year: 1822
"This country, it is generally supposed, derives its name from a cluster of small islands, or banks, situated near its coasts, and called the Mosquittos; some late geographers have designated it by the name of Mosquitia, which is certainly a more elegant appellation than that of Mosquito Shore, conveying to a stranger ignorant of its derivation, the idea of a country infested with Moschetos, which would be a very unjust conclusion, as there are perhaps few countries under the tropics, so little troubled with these disagreeable insects." Description of Moskitia in s. XIX. Translation into Spanish in https://archive.org/details/bosquejo-de-la-costa-mosquito
