"INTRODUCTORY. Psalm li. 1. (Prayer-book version.) 'Have mercy upon me, O God, after Thy great goodness" according to the "multitude of Thy mercies do away "mine offences." For nearly three thousand years has the Book of Psalms been the handbook of devotion for all true worshippers of God. Think how great a "cloud of " witnesses "have proved the blessedness of this most precious book. Think how vast a multitude of those, who in olden times have "died in faith," have winged their prayers and praises upward to God's throne upon the living words of the "sweet Psalmist of Israel." And verily "he, being dead, yet speaketh." For are not his words even now...." Digitized by Google.
