"The following sketches were prepared by James S. Draper of Wayland and printed in the Waltham Free Press. He respectfully presents this copy to the Wayland Free Public Library Feb 3rd 1868" Draper writes accounts of such things as a 5 mile square property bought from an Indian in 1638, how East Sudbury broke off from Sudbury and then became Wayland. He talks about the early meeting house in 1643 and subsequent meeting houses until his time and their use for public meetings and places of worship. He offers "pastoral sketches" of the ministers in town over time that include accounts of their personalities and preaching styles where known. This volume is part of the historical archives of the Wayland Free Public Library.
