The Regiment served in Egypt, France, Mesopotamia and Palestine. Page 132 states that the 93rd had fought beside the 1~1st Gurkhas for three years, in two campaigns, and in many actions. The name of the regiment 93rd Burma Infantry is related to historical associations only. At the time of the First World War there was no connection to Burma. The regiment may have unofficially also been known as the 93rd Punjabis. In 1922 due to amalgamations, the regiment became the 5th Battalion, 8th Punjab Regiment.
