Originally founded in 1892 as the Presbyterian Hospital Training School for Nurses, it later changed its name to the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. It initially affiliated with Columbia University in 1937 at which time it was also known as the Columbia University Dept. of Nursing. The school was completely absorbed into Columbia in the 1970s and was renamed the Columbia University Schoool of Nursing
