Ryan's True Harmonica Instructor
Author: John Church Company
Year: 1886
Early instruction book for the Richter model or 10 hole "diatonic" harmonica. Very little documentable evidence supports the claims that the Richter harmonica was popular or even readily available in the United States before the 1870s. Most evidence attributes the popularity to one man, J. K. Emmet known for his character "Fritz." There were even signature model harmonicas sold under his name. This book will work with the common 10 hole diatonic harmonica. As there was no sheet music published for the instrument this book teaches how to adapt other music to the harmonica. It also has harmonica arrangements for popular songs from the era.
