Alexander Wetmore went to southern Pennsylvania in 1922 to investigate the condition of Texas Bobwhite (also known as the Mexican Quail) introduced from northeastern Mexico, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania State Game Commission. Work was completed while employed by the U.S. Department Agriculture (USDA), Bureau of Biological Survey.
