About this book

Pencil drawing of Old Fort Dearborn and the Kinzie house on the Chicago River, 1831

Year: 1831

Small, unsigned pencil drawing of unknown origin, executed sometime during the 19th century after 1831, possibly between 1870 and 1889, of Fort Dearborn and the John H. Kinzie house on the Chicago River as they appeared in 1831. The fort is surrounded by cabins and teepees; and in the foreground, are four Indians in a canoe, wearing feather headdresses and carying staffs. Cf.
