The following lectures are an expansion of these notes, arranged in suitable sequence, and are in the first place intended to reduce the labour of Instructors when teaching training classes at Transport Depots. It may be justly argued that the contents of this book are more than a Non-Commissioned Officer or Private can be expected to master during his six weeks' course at a training depot; but as the details discussed have in almost every instance come under the Author's personal notice when performing transport duties, it may be fairly claimed that the lectures are well within the scope of a Transport Officer's work, which includes the care and management of the different transport animals used under varying conditions of climate and localit
