Tasman anchored in Frederick Hendrik Bay (so named after the Stadholder of Holland) on the South Eastern Coast December lst, 1642, and namecl the newly found land, Van Diemen, after the Governor General, Anthony Van Diemen. This name was changed to Tasmania, January lst, 1856. ...”
