"PREFACE. That mind must indeed be dull, and that heart hard, which are not roused and incited to devotion to the dying by the perusal of this little work. Enough, and more than enough, is said to induce all for the rest of their lives to make it their daily duty and their daily practice to help the dying in their extreme necessity in one or more of the various ways indicated. If a few words, by way of preface, are added by the present writer, it is for the purpose of urging very earnestly all who read this work, and reap benefit from it to their own souls, to render some assistance to those to whom they are thus indebted."
