Henry Richard Linderman (1825-1879), superintendent of the United States Mint, writes to James Curtis Booth (1810-1888) in a letter marked "Private" to ask Booth for advice on the operations of the United States Mint's New York Assay Office. James Curtis Booth (1810-1888) was Melter & Refiner at the United States Mint in Philadelphia. The James Booth papers are held by the Science History Institute in Philadelphia.
