A ledger of the Ladies Aid Society of Buffalo. For each meeting date the entry tells at whose home the meeting was held, who "filled the chair", what dues were collected, how much money was spent, and what work was done. Work included making quilts, sun bonnets, aprons, caps, head rests, laundry bags, stocking bags and carpet rags. At the end of the book is a monthly and yearly listing of members and the dues they paid. The monthly dues were 10 cents. Also listed at the end is a listing of articles sold for each year and the money earned. Ladies' Aid Societies or Soldiers' Aid Societies were started during the Civil War to aid the soldiers by providing clothes, food and medical supplies.
