John Carl Hansen was Sarah Winchester's orchard supervisor. He and wife Nellie lived at the Winchester House in San Jose (Calif.) for 28 years until Winchester's death in 1922. In his daybooks, he recorded Sarah Winchester's comings and goings from the house, plantings in the orchard, purchases of supplies and equipment, and events around the property.
