Author: Henderson, J. B. (John Brooks), 1870-1923

Year: 1908

John Brooks Henderson, Jr., a diplomatic advisor to China, was a shell collector. Interested in the marine shell life of the West Indies, he participated in several expeditions to the Caribbean. His collections were donated to the United States National Museum. He did volunteer work in the Division of Mollusks in his spare time, and wrote several articles for the Proceedings of the United States National Museum and Bulletin of the United States National Museum. The field book is in a folder including 30 leaves of typewritten transcriptions of Henderson's notes. The field book itself includes handwritten notes on specimen collection in Cuba, covering February 1908 to March, 1920. The notes relate to various field trips and are accompanied by drawings of sites and by later marginalia and annotations. A map, blueprint showing relief and waterways of Cuba, is inserted in the field book
