Year: 1888
Ingalls' Home Magazine was launched in November 1887 by J.F. Ingalls in Lynn, Massachusetts. It was designed to be the first monthly periodical "devoted exclusively to woman's work in its varied branches, and suited to the capacity of all classes of workers..." Its primary focus was on "all kinds of decorative work," including embroidery and other needlecrafts, home decor, painting, drawing - even designing illuminated letters. It also published articles on cooking, household management, home furnishings and similar topics. The company produced an extensive line of embroidery patterns (one of which is shown above) that were sometimes advertised in the magazine. The magazine changed its name to Ingalls' Home and Art Magazine in 1890. In 1895 it merged with Modern Priscilla.
