We publish this, our second volume, with every confidence that it will increase the interest already taken in our Series by a very large section of the technical world, the more so as it treats of a very far-reaching and important branch of engineering. The Technical Press throughout the world has praised the practical value, the arrangement and design of our Dictionary and the method of its execution in the very highest terms, and it is really in this volume that the method of treatment of the various lexicographic and technical problems is shown most clearly.
