Calculates the following formula for the illumination due to a radiating circular disc of finite size, the point at which the illumination ia required being oh a surface parallel to the disc and at a perpendicular distance K from it. If /b i/ is the brightness of the disc and /b a/ its radius, while /b x/ is the distance of the illuminated point from the axis of symmetry, then the illumination E = 1/2 pi /b i/[1 - (/b x//sup 2/ K/sup 2/ -/b a//sup 2/)/ {/b x//sup 4/ 2(K/sup 2/ - /b a//sup 2/)/b x//sup 2/ (K/sup 2/ /b a//sup 2/)/sup 2/} /sup 1/2 /]. It is readily deduced as a special case that the illumination at a point on the axis of the disc (/b x/ = 0) is given by E = 1/2 pi /b i/[2/b a//sup 2//(K/sup 2/ /b a//sup 2/)].
