About this book

Hop Plant - Louse and the Remedies to be Used Against It.

Author: Charles Valentine Riley

Year: 1891

U.S. Department of Agriculture, Division of Entomology, Circular No.2, Second Series. Published by the authority of the Secretary of Agriculture, June 1891. From inside cover: "Sir, I have the honor to submit for immediate publication this emergency bulletin, covering the main facts in the life-history of the Hop Plant-louse and the best remedies against its ravages. This has been drawn up at your instance, in view of the facts that the report for 1888 is no longer to be had for distribution, and that urgent demands for information are being made of the Department. The insect is appearing in alarming numbers in the hop regions of New York the present week; while the hop growers of Oregon and Washington are also greatly exercised about it the present season. Respectfully yours, C.V. Riley, Entomologist." Scanned from the print original in the collection of Cornell's Frank A. Lee Library, NYSAES, Geneva, NY. Some damage to last page.
