The Chinese here are extremely anxious, and the anthorities at Peking are know to be greatly. The air is full of rumours and it is difficult to know how to take them. Yesterday H.E.J. Russell Young and General Smithers arrived from Chefoo; to-day, at 4 p.m. Her Majesty has decided to have peace with France at any cost and has now appointed to act together. A meeting of foreign residents was held in the office of Messrs. E. Meyer & Co. on the 8th.
