Publication date 1920 is taken from the Google Books book page. The Battalion embarked December 21 st , 1915 for Egypt, where it remained less than three months, arriving in France mid March 1915. The Battalion was part of 94 th Infantry Brigade, 31 st Division. Page 115 says “In January and February, 1918, the British Army was reorganized on account of dwindling man-power, and the City Battalion, owing to its numerical weakness, was disbanded, much to the sorrow of the men. Drafts were sent to the 7th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment, the 13th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment, the Grenadier Guards, and the Base. The band was transferred intact to the 2 /4th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment”.
