Nancy Boll Holdorf documents her memories of growing up in Maysville, IA as the daughter of the owners of Boll's General Store, Roland and Loretta Boll. She describes different parts in the store including the pipe room, glass room, school book room, hand operated elevator, vinegar barrels in the basement, feed shed, walk-in cooler, and the chicken barn. Other memories describe social events such as Wednesday night outdoor movies shown on Roehlk's barn and children ice skating on the pond behind the store. According to the sesquicentennial booklet, 150 Years, Maysville, 1856-2006, the store was built in 1902 by Henry Klindt Jr. He sold it to Henry Schultz who lived upstairs above the store. The store also served as the post office. In 1913, Grover and Nettie Meyer purchased the store and lived upstairs. Otto Andresen formed a partnership with the Meyers. Otto ran a store in Walcott while the Meyers ran the one in Maysville. The Meyer's daughter, Loretta, married Roland Boll in 1939 at which time they took over operating the store, with the help of Grover and Nettie. Roland died in 1969 so Loretta sold it to Stanley Hermetets who ran it as a ceramics store. In 1974 he sold it to Ken
