Logbook of a whaling voyage to the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans.$bIncludes descriptions of whales seen or taken and accidents at sea. Also contains accounts, children's drawings, and inventories of oil and bone. The keeper noted his 30th birthday on August 7, 1838. The keeper notes that the captain was sick at one point during this voyage. The keeper writes of a "suspicious" brig and schooner (possibly pirates) trying to sail towards the vessel but sailed away when unable to come up against the vessel. Other places represented include Port Cooper [Lyttelton] (New Zealand), Table Island (New Zealand), the Solander Islands [Hautere] (New Zealand), and Port Levy (New Zealand). Whaling grounds include the Pigeon, Crozet, Desolation, Coast of New Holland, Middle, New Zealand, and French Rock grounds.
