Field notes and maps, circa 1928, includes Hamilton Group, Morrisville Quadrangle, pages 0001- 0310

Author: Cooper, G. Arthur (Gustav Arthur), 1902-

Year: 1927

This field book contains note on the paleontological specimen and geology of the Devonian Hamilton Group and Morrisville Quadrangle in New York taken approximately in July 1927 and around August and September in 1928. Locations Cooper visits include Bear Mountain Ravine, Mud Creek, Canandaigua Lake, Big Hallow Creek, Cazenovia Creek, Chittenango Falls, Delphi Falls, Eneville, New Woodstock, and other areas. Cooper describes stratigraphy of the locations, often providing color and consistency of shale in which fossils are found. Fossils vary greatly, but many are marine mollusks falling into the bivalves or gastropod class. Also included are several maps that are annotated and have numeric or alpha numeric codes that Cooper uses in his field notes to refer to locations. Page numbers for these field notes are 0001- 0310
