Includes descriptions of layers exposed by cuts into terrain for construction of railroad. Cuts are numbered. Most entries are headed with date and location of observations. Descriptions include composition, color, appearance, and fossils (shells). Includes sketches and geological sections. Some notes are crossed out. Notes from 1926 describe social events; lists of plant specimens collected; trees and flowering plants observed; weather; synopsis of a speech given; and lists of plants observed between destinations usually along a railroad.
