About this book

Everett family correspondence, 1849-1895 (box 4)

Author: Everett, Jennie, 1827-1891

Year: 1849

Letters of Robert and Elizabeth Everett and their children. Many of the letters are all-inclusive, written from the Everett children to the rest of the family back home. At times two or more of the Everett sisters lived together, and many letters are addressed "Dear Sisters" without further clarification. Jennie Everett (1827-1891) attended Mount Holyoke Female Seminary in the 1840s, and taught school for many years. She traveled to Kansas in the 1870s and lived with her brother John Roberts Everett for a while, and later lived with her sister Mary Everett in New York City, where she assisted in Mary's medical practice.
