Dexter, Manchester, New Hampshire, December 22, 1847. The youth of New Hampshire were leaving their rural villages to live in the major cities, where they fell into lives of debauchery, the women spending their money on clothes and candy, the men on novelettes and Vaudeville shows. This according to the author was transforming them into infidels, and even worse, sabbath-breakers. Luckily, Reverend Dexter brought his pulpit to town to stop any and all fun from occurring.
