Johnson" and a note in another hand that the inscription was by the author; other names suggested by libraries are Marie Elizabeth Jackson, Mary Jackson Henry, and M.E. Jenks. // Five chapters cover missions in what are now the Prairie Provinces. Includes accounts of missions by Bompas. Described in the preface as "a comprehensive outline of the work accomplished in North-West America by the Church Missionary Society." Appendix contains a valuable chronology of missionary endeavours.
