Hunter, Jean Ross: 1822-1910. Born at Norway House, daughter of HBC factor; spent girlhood at Cumberland House; became second wife of Rev. James Hunter, 1848; translated parts of the Bible, prayers, and hymns into Cree; Pilling, who corresponded with her, gives her name as Jean and her birthdate as July 26, 1822; Rev. J. Smithurst, who officiated at her wedding, referred to her as Jane ( Letters of Letitia Hargrave ; Pilling, Bibliography of the Algonquian languages ). // McDougall, John: 1842-1917. Son of Rev. G.M. McDougall; to the West, 1860; taught school at Norway House; entered Methodist ministry, 1866, and ordained, 1874; for many years served in Alberta, first at Victoria, and later at Morley (Morgan, Canadian men and women of the time , 1912). // Glass, Ervin Bird: 1852-1927.
