About this book
[Cornelia (Bark) of New Bedford, Mass., mastered by Daniel Flanders, keeper unknown, on voyage 12 December 1843 - 27 April 1846]
Author: Cornelia (Bark)
Year: 1843
Logbook of a whaling voyage to the Atlantic and Indian Oceans in addition to the Mozambique Channel and Caribbean Sea. Includes descriptions of whales seen or taken and a death at sea. Also contains whale stamps, drawings, accounts, and poetry. One mane named Joseph Morse died and was buried at sea on July 15, 1844. The log had been used as a scrapbook at one time, so the writing is difficult to read, the ink has faded, and many pages are missing. Other places represented include Annobón, Anjouan, and Barbados. Whaling grounds include the Cornell, Coast of Brazil, Zanzibar, Mozambique Channel, and St. Helena grounds.
