The logbook of the ship Charles Morris details a voyage from Salem to Sumatra, Calcutta and the West Indies (Jan. 1816-Mar. 1817). Log does not continue while in Calcutta. Home port was Salem, Mass.; owners were White, Treadwell, Fettyplace, Manning; master was James Chever Jr.; log keeper was William Chever. It is a daily log describing wind, weather, and location as well as sightings of ships, fish, or birds. Martha G. Wheatland bequest; purchase; January 26, 1914.
