(of Yate, Glos.) comprising Bristol books, local topography, rare Civil War tracts, Chattertonia, works of Coleridge and Southey, voyages of Woodes-Rogers, Captain Thomas James and Cabot, pamphlets and broadsides, early Bristol newspapers, rare old views of Bristol', sold by auction at the Grand Hotel , Bristol, 26-27 February 1930. The catalogue includes the sale prices realised of nearly all the 600 items, recorded in pencil. Francis Fox was the leading antiquarian of his day, who had also published various transcriptions of Bristol records. Some of his most important manuscripts had been offered to and purchased by Bristol Archives Office prior to the auction, while others were purchased at it.
